I want to be like them

Our friends Greg and Nancy Fuchs flew in from Santa Barbara and we got to have dinner with them and their wonderful, precious daughter Anna on Saturday. They both have PhDs, so we affectionately refer to them as The Doctors Fuchs. This is relevant to one thing I admire about both of them, which is this:
They are brilliant and unassuming.
They are fully aware that they are experts in their field- the phrase “their field” is key- they do not think they know everything, nor do they act as if their degree makes them Doctors of all of life. Nancy talks about a neighbor who is a linguist and her neighbor’s husband who is a history teacher: Nancy loves and respects their knowledge and admits it’s Greek to her (literally in the case of the linguist, I would guess). This is just one example, I could list more. I want to be like that - super smart and still just real people.
