Our countertop project is turning out to be much longer than the 1 day we actually expected.
I came home about an hour earlier than I usually do on Wednesdays, because I went in at 10:30 AM instead of noon. But that still means I was gone for 10 hours and guess what? We had a little flood in our kitchen yesterday. It seems the valve to shut off the line to our currently disconnected dishwasher doesn’t work.
I was grateful that the kitchen rug was not on the floor, we moved it for this project, but there was lots of other junk everywhere. And the dogs’ food bowls were an island unto themselves. Ah, well, I mopped it up and called Paul, who was at Youth group.
He was not feeling well yesterday, and even took a nap in the Youth room at FCC between work and tonight’s event. But he had a good attitude about the flood and came right home to help. I needed him to do most of the work since I didn’t know how to install a sink and re-hook up a dishwasher. The poor guy disappeared half way through the re-install and I found him puking in the bathroom. He was really sick. But it had to get done, so after that he went back to it. What a man.
No flood this morning. Thanks Paulers, I know that was no fun for you.

and Hannah the trail forger, and Eli, and Eddie for your help with the countertops yesterday. Seriously. It turned out really well and we had no idea that it would take that many people - but we know now that it would have been really hard without Mommers & Hannah’s muscles.

Carol, I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for being a second mom to Paul, your homemade chocolate sauce, for all your love through the years, - and the use of your home and barn as a safe place to hang out growing up.

I have no kitchen sink today. It’s worth it though, because we are replacing our countertops. We had a little trouble lining up the pieces last night and thought it wiser to go slowly, clamp the little pointy piece that was troubling us down and let it dry overnight. I think Paul is going to ask his brother to help him finish the job tonight.
A fairly inexpensive project, ($675.00 – so far) new countertops is making our house feel like ours, finally, not just one we bought from someone else.
