I Want Candy

Remember Pop-up video? I LOVED Pop-up video. First discovered it on the TV screens at Dicks Bar when I used to serve the slow afternoon shifts. Shows how much work I did, huh? I actually read the little pop up facts, found them fascinating.

Tonight, I found myself actually smiling at the TV in 80’s induced bliss. VH1 has been running the 100 greatest songs of the 80’s marathon. It’s great. I remembered and liked every single song so far.

Katrina and the waves: “Walking on sunshine”
Prince “Kiss”
Ton-Loc “Wild thing”
Robert Palmer “Addicted to Love”
“In Cars” by that pale guy…by far the best song of all -Did you know that synth loop mixed with the monotone voice was an attempt to define how cold it felt to make music with a machine? It was spot on.
Rolling stones, “Start me up”
Men at Work “Down Under”
“I want Candy!”

Donovan Stohlberg, oh how I miss you.

This music makes me smile. I’m gonna hafta give myself a perm. There is definite merit in just watching videos once in a while and not being all serious and discussing worldviews all the time. It’s like sorbet for the brain.

My owners may be fooled, but I am not. I know that the only reason you have not stolen the TV is that every time you show up in your green garbage truck I alert everyone within a 2 mile radius with my constant barking. I am watching you. Try another home to break into, buster- this one is protected.

Signed, Frito
